Rewarding performance
Thomas Cook Group's reputation and culture helps us to attract and retain excellent employees. We recognise that rewarding performance is also important: offering competitive pay and benefits packages helps us to maintain a committed, talented workforce.

The benefits packages that we offer include discounts on our holidays and, within some Group companies, flexible benefits programmes. These enable employees to choose between, for example, medical insurance, shopping discounts, childcare vouchers and additional annual vacation, to create packages that meet their individual needs.
Employees are also acknowledged for their loyalty to the Group. For example, in the UK, when someone has worked for us for 10 years, they are given the choice of a wide range of gifts as a symbol of our appreciation. Those employees who perform particularly well are also rewarded, for example with educational holidays or trips.
In 2010 we extended our share plan, Sharesave, across the Group. This means that employees who have been with us for at least six months can now participate in the plan. Sharesave allows individuals to save a fixed amount each month (from £5 to £250 or the equivalent in local currency) from their pay over three years. At the end of the three years, the participant may use the lump sum to either buy shares in Thomas Cook Group at a previously set, discounted price or take their savings as cash. Sharesave therefore appeals to employees as an easy way to save or an affordable way to purchase shares in the Group.
Sharesave offers employees at all levels the opportunity to share in the potential long-term success of our company. The majority of participants save under £100 per month, suggesting that the scheme is popular among employees at all pay levels.
It is normal practice in Thomas Cook Group companies for full-time and part-time employees to receive the same benefits, including maternity and paternity provision, pension schemes and Sharesave. Health care and life insurance are not offered as standard, but in countries where it is a legal requirement to provide these for either full-time staff or all employees, we do so.
